a life of crime, thievery and fighting. the beat up cajun wasn’t exactly familiar with the feeling of comfort and safety. remy believed men like him didn’t get the white picket fence reward. no matter the people his heart went after, he never knew if there would truly be a place for love in his heart. not with the way he guarded. despite the way he flirted, drawing the feelings and looks of whoever he wanted. he had a way of keeping even the people he held closest at arms length.
deep down in a part of him he usually hid away, he was a romantic. he was drawn to you, your ability to take things in your stride, to be kind even after you’d been cut down and hurt. a quality he didn’t quite understand, but admired. he shut himself away after hurt, masking it by a personality of confidence. which wasn’t exactly fake. he knew he was handsome, he knew he was charming, it’s how he got what he wanted. but you? you remained kind after it all, he wanted to stick around.
so he did, and that’s how he found himself stumbling home. not his actual home, your home he called home, a little drunk..well more than a little. he had met his match in an drinking competition. he fumbled around the plant pot infront of your home, knowing you had the spare key there, he could just pick the lock. but he was keeping from making you jump out your skin considering it was late, and he was coming unannounced. after getting the key and the door opened, kicking off his shoes.
he made his way through your home, almost falling through the living room door. finding you curled up. he fell to his knees infront of you, arms coming around your waist, his face buried into your lap. he honestly looked pathetic. letting himself flop against you. being a vulnerable. “Gambit s’sorry for comin unannounced..you know he gets like dat.” he mumbled into your lap. his hand reaching into the soaked pocket of his trench coat. “m’not above begging for forgiveness f’you ask.” -he said, dragging out a pack of cigarettes. taking one between his lips. offering his lighter to you “mind lightin’ this f’remy?”
