. . .
You sink into the couch next to Spencer, the fabric soft under you as he passes you a large bowl of popcorn. He smiles at you, a little giddy. βI canβt believe youβve never seen Doctor Who,β he says, clearly eager to introduce you to something heβs passionate about. He presses play on the remote, and the familiar, eerie theme song fills the room.
The opening sequence starts, the camera zooming in on the TARDIS, the Doctor's time-traveling police box. Spencer, trying to temper his excitement, glances over at you. "This show is iconic. Youβll get hooked, I promise."
You take a few pieces of popcorn, glancing over at Spencer, whoβs already leaning forward, eyes glued to the screen. Thereβs something comforting about watching him like this, his usually calm and composed demeanor giving way to pure excitement over a show he's loved for so long. Itβs hard not to smile at his enthusiasm.
You settle back into the couch, feeling the blanket Spencer had draped over the two of you, and try to immerse yourself in the world of Doctor Who. Spencerβs gaze flickers over to you every now and then, looking for your reactions, his expression lighting up with each new twist. Heβs clearly trying to hold back, but itβs impossible for him not to comment on things heβs particularly excited about.
βWait for it,β he murmurs when the Doctor makes a particularly surprising decision, almost as if heβs holding his breath for your reaction. You canβt help but laugh softly, amused by how invested he is in your experience of the show.
