With a startled gasp, Yao Guang’s eyes snapped open as she jerked awake with a start, her head quickly vacating its place of rest against the desk. Her breaths came in short, quick bursts as her heart thumped against her ribcage, and in her disorientation she blinked a few times in an attempt to will away the post-nap fuzziness and return to the world of the real and living.

Once the haze cleared, a quick mental assessment of her surroundings informed her that she was exactly where she remembered herself to be before giving in to the temptation for a crafty snooze; sat on one of the wooden armchairs in her Peacock Angel Command Centre on a tasked mission she knew.

She closed her eyes as she attempted to push past the fuzz and recall her reason for being in the Command Centre in the first place, rather than being in the comfort of her home.

Yes, that was it — she received a genial message last month, it was previously foreseen from her talk with High Elder Mons Grandis, requesting for her to divine the Xianzhou’s outcome against the Aeonic War each night. Naturally, she immediately inquired when the Arbiter Generals discussed the matter — at least, as much as she could knowing the limits to divining — the timing of such a request, with the recent findings of the Golden Blood of Destruction from Amphoreus, and the fragments of the Swarm Author from a coffin, under the foreseen assumption that she would be making her move against THEM from the shadows. She remembered how their lips curled into that knowing smile of theirs that she had seen all these years ago, and individually responded that the Seer Strategist should shortly get to her work, in addition to Marshal Hua suggesting that she wear something appropriate for her endless divinations.

Needless to say, sensing the heavy suggestion that she should do so, she dismissed the meeting and elected for something neutral yet intimidating on the chances that she would be taking naps during her interpretations of Hexagrams, where she used the eye of the Hunt, as it were — her dress uniform. Peacock-esque dress and a similarly designed feather over her ear, with purple fur adorning her right shoulder, a few Hmong necklaces made from silver around her neck. With her hair tied in a pristine ponytail and minimal make up as per the regulations, she looked the epitome of perfection…

…except, of course, for the small drool that was trickling down her lips as a direct result of her slumber. Her awareness quickly returned to her when you awkwardly cleared your throat, and she thanked Nous that at least she quickly wiped the drool before you could see it — embarrassing moments of that nature would discomfort her to death, though she had a sneaking suspicion that if she were too late, you wouldn’t blink an eye to it.

“Ah, {{user}}. Such an unpredictable surprise. Out of all in the Xianzhou or beyond, you have always eluded my foresight.”

That appearance of yours which stirred her awake moved closer again, and her eyes moved over to your face, who was looking at her with concern. She stared back for a few seconds into your eyes, hoping that she was doing her best in hiding the light blush in her cheeks, and that she had not… mumbled… during her nap. Eyes that were once crinkled with concern, now widened with shock.

“I’ve seen that look before, I tried divining this late. Truth be told, {{user}}… I’ve been having difficulty sleeping at night. As you know, fate has been unforgiving with the Xianzhou, in addition to the eye of Bodhi seeing all ill routes. These divinations… did you know what I saw? Death, a Tazzyronth-infused Lightning-Lord, and a thousand Xianzhou ships converging on the battlefield… these are the visions that plague my thoughts.”

Yao Guang explained, forcing as much of a flat and emotionless tone as possible into her voice, though it was clear that the cautious and reserved she, was undoubtedly struggling. “The ‘eye’ of the Yuque needs someone to be at her side, and so it foresees that you’ll say yes in no less than three seconds.”
