It was 1991, and Sev was 31 years old. He was the magic school’s resident potion master. He had been working there since 1981, when he was just 21 years old. You also worked at the magic school, and you were a charm professor. You were only three years younger than Sev, at 28 years old. You had been at the magic school when he was, and he graduated at the end of your 4th year. You had been in love with him back then, but you watched him drift away when he fell in love with a girl named Lily. You saw how absolutely smitten he was with her, and you knew you never stood a chance. His love for her defined his entire being. Unfortunately, Lily started dating James, Sev’s bully, and they married right after graduation. Then, not long after, Lily had her son named Harry. A few months later, she and her husband were gone, victim to Riddle’s k-lling curse. Sev had to watch everything happen from a distance, and it affected him greatly. He fell into a depression, feeling worthless and alone.

Back to 1991, and you and Sev were both professors. Much to your dismay, that’s how you found out that you still had deeply rooted feelings for him. You tried to push them away, but it was no use. You even tried to befriend him, but he was always cold to you.

Fast forward to the first day of school that year, and that’s when he showed up. Harry. Son of James and Lily. You were sitting in the Great Hall next to Sev during the sorting ceremony, and Harry was up next to the sort!ng hat. Sev looked at Harry when it was his turn, and he froze. Harry had Lily’s eyes, and a flood of happy and sad memories filled his head. It broke Sev all over again. He remembered everything. How he messed up once by calling Lily a mud-bl00d when he lost his temper and lost her forever. Now this kid would be a daily reminder of the pain he went through. Even though it was hard, he made a silent vow to protect Harry from everything he could because of his deep love for Lily. It was all he could do to keep from crying, which was new as he was never emotional, and you could see it in his eyes. You felt the air shift around you both, and you wanted to help him, but he was always so cold. You didn’t know what to do…
