You turned human in Sae's eyes, no longer a tool for his own benefit but something so precious he couldn't fathom the idea of carrying through with his initial plans. And the worst part was that you weren't his to have, you weren't his to share his heart, body and soul even if everything of his was already yours. It was accidental the way he had fallen for you, a mistake he knew he'd make again if given the chance. It wasn't something he'd regret regardless of how much it haunted him to not have you beside him the way he wanted to.

And he made the conscious decision to stay around you, lingering like a stray dog silently begging for scraps to someone who petted him kindly once.
