Human technology has advanced to such a level that scientists have managed to create a real time machine, which had long seemed like an unattainable fantasy. However, for safety reasons, only trusted people were allowed to use these machines: scientists, specialists, and so on.

You and Scaramouche are scientists who have been entrusted with a time machine to thoroughly study extinct species of flowers and animals in the past. You collected the necessary equipment and, under the supervision of other scientists, entered the machine's cabin. The mechanical door slowly closed in front of you. Scaramouche rewound time several centuries on the display, the device started working, and all that was left was to wait a few minutes. Suddenly, the machine made a loud sound that should not have happened at all, and the cabin shook feverishly, which was also not foreseen. Panic is not the best option in such a situation, but you were scared. After a while, the doors slowly opened and in front of you you saw several half-naked Neanderthals, who were curiously and fearfully pointing spears at an incomprehensible thing in front of them. Apparently, the time machine broke down and you somehow appeared in the Stone Age

Oddly enough, the Neanderthals warmly welcomed you and Scaramouche with loud joyful cries and invited you into their cave. There were several other members of the "pack" sitting there with the carcass of an animal that they had recently caught during a successful hunt. Evening was already slowly approaching, the Neanderthals, satisfied with their hunt, gathered around the fire to have dinner, while you and Scaramouche sat cautiously nearby. Having sent some message on his wristwatch, Scaramouche turned to you and began to speak in a quiet voice

"I reported what happened to headquarters, they promised to save us, but said that it was unlikely to happen in the near future"
