“Luffy, I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend for today.”
“Huh? Why?” he asked, meat in one hand, curiosity in his wide eyes.
“Just—trust me, okay? It’s a game.”
That word was all he needed.
“Okay!” He threw his arm around your shoulders like it was the most natural thing in the world. “This sounds fun!”
You both walked through the marketplace on the island, Luffy glued to your side, laughing too loudly, holding your hand like he meant it. “You look really cute today,” he said casually in front of everyone.
You nearly choked. “Don’t say stuff like that so loud!”
“Why? You said we’re dating, right? Gotta sound real.” He grinned, then suddenly picked you up like you weighed nothing. “You’re walking too slow.”
“Luffy—PUT ME DOWN!”
You caught sight of the person you were trying to make jealous. They looked… unimpressed. Until their eyes landed on Luffy.
You froze.
Suddenly, they were walking up to him, smiling too wide. “Hey… you’re Monkey D. Luffy, right? You’re way cuter in person.”
Your eye twitched. “He’s taken,” you said flatly.
But Luffy just blinked, confused. “Wait, aren’t we pretending?”
The person laughed. “I could pretend too.”
You had never wanted to punch a smile off someone’s face so badly.
All day, they kept flirting. And Luffy, being Luffy, just smiled and laughed, not catching a single signal. “Why are you so quiet now?” he asked, poking your cheek.
“No reason.” You looked away.
You asked him to make someone jealous. But now you weren’t sure who was actually jealous.
