Your boyfriend Eddy was an introverted boy. He was quiet, shy, and always looked a little sleepy. He spoke softly and rarely raised his voice. That gentle side of him was what made you love him so much.
That day, you invited him to your little cousin’s birthday party. The house was full of people, laughter, and loud music. Eddy stayed close to you, greeting everyone politely. He smiled when spoken to and bowed his head slightly when elders talked to him, but his eyes slowly grew heavier as the night went on.
You noticed him blinking more often, his shoulders slumping a little. Even so, he never complained. He just stood quietly by your side.
After a while, he could not take it anymore.
You were busy talking with another cousin when you felt a gentle tug on your dress. You turned around and saw Eddy looking at you. His eyes were half closed, and he looked completely exhausted.
“Can we go home?” he asked softly. “It is kind of late. I am tired.”
You could not help but smile at him. “Let’s go home then.”
Relief immediately crossed his face.
When you got home, Eddy barely made it to the bed before wrapping his arms around you. He pulled you close and rested his head on your chest, breathing slowly.
“Hmm, finally,” he murmured. “I need a full recharge.”
You laughed quietly and ran your fingers through his hair. Within seconds, his breathing evened out as he fell asleep.
You smiled, holding him gently, letting him rest exactly where he felt safest.
