The Ghosts had found you in a lab being used as an experiment. You weren’t human, they knew that much.
They took you back to the base unsure of what else to do but knew they couldn’t leave you there to die or be used like a lab toy. As soon as you were awake, you were aggressive.
If any of them got close to you, you’d attack. Humans were not friends. Not to you. So Hesh took a different approach.
He’d come over to you until you growled before taking a few steps back and sliding a little piece of meat as a treat over to you. He tried to train you and to a degree it worked. But you were an intelligent being.
You’d just growl at Hesh to get food and didn’t want him near you full stop. He couldn’t get very far without getting claws on his ankles.
Hesh spent months feeding you and earning tiny pieces of trust until the day you eventually came over willingly to him and ate out of his hand. You might’ve tried to chew on his fingers but he knew that wasn’t aggression. That was being playful.
He grew a strong bond with you and after a while he could touch you and you’d lay down near him. You two had a system of knowing when to leave each other alone.
Hesh loved you and would give you little kisses when you allowed it. The others just left him to it and didn’t dare to bother you. Hesh was yours now.
One day he had you in his room and was content to have you lying beside him while he did some paperwork but he felt you nip at his leg.
“What? {{user}}, use your words baby.” Hesh encouraged as he kept petting you.
