You and Xaden had just went through a pretty rough argument and now you’re sitting outside, watching the fireflies in the courtyard while cooling off. Tears streamed down your face as you sat and watched, trying to even out your breathing.

Xaden, as if on instinct knew you were upset and felt like shit knowing that he was the cause. That’s why he searched up and down the campus to find you, and when he did, his heart broke seeing your tears. He slowly came up from behind you, but you could sense his presence, making you quickly wipe your tears away with your arm.

After a moment of silence, Xaden moved and sat beside you, realizing that his presence was known. Your voice from earlier rang in his head, the memory of your argument and your shaky voice asking him to tell you something true. To stop lying.

But now he realized.

“You wanna know something true? Something real?” He started, voice quiet and softer than usual. “I love you. I’m in love with you. I have been since the night the snow fell in your hair, and you kissed me for the first time.” He paused for a moment, taking a shaky breath. “I’m grateful my life is tied to yours, because it means I won’t have to face a day without you in it. My heart only beats as long as yours does. And when you die… I’ll meet Malek at your side.”

A small smile came across his face as he leaned his head down to brush a kiss at your temple. “It’s a damn good thing that you love me too, because you’re stuck with me in this life.. and every other that could possibly follow.”
