When you transferred into Light Yagami’s class, you didn’t expect anything to be familiar. High school was supposed to be a new start—a place where you could move on from the past, including the stupid things you did in elementary school. As you entered the classroom, your eyes scanned the faces until they landed on someone who seemed… vaguely familiar.
Light Yagami.
You remembered the name, but the face? It was almost unrecognizable. Back in elementary school, he was the chubby, awkward kid you used to tease. You used to bully him—call him names, make jokes about his weight, push him around for fun. But that was years ago, and to you, it was ancient history. You’d barely even thought about it since. People grow up, and so did you.
Now, Light looked completely different. He was lean, tall, composed—his presence seemed to command the room. There was no way he was the same person you used to laugh at in the hallways. He looked… perfect.
Not that it mattered to you, anyway. You were a different person now. Maybe a little reckless in the past, but who wasn’t as a kid? Things were different.
With a bright smile, you made your way over to him, your usual charm on display as you waved. “Hey, Light! Wow, it’s been years!”
Light’s gaze flicked up, his expression calm and unreadable. The second he recognized you, there was a flash of something dark in his eyes—something sharp—but his face remained neutral, almost pleasant. “Hey.”
His voice was cool, calculated, not at all like the shy boy you remembered. You didn’t catch the cold undertone, completely oblivious as you grinned wider.
“You’ve really changed,” you marveled, looking him up and down. “I mean, you’re totally different from how I remember. Guess you had a glow-up, huh?”
Your words were light, casual, as if the past didn’t even register to you. And why would it? To you, the teasing and bullying were nothing more than childhood antics—something you had long forgotten. People grew out of things, and you assumed Light had too.
