Babysitting wasn’t much of an issue when it came to kids like Fern. Quiet, introverted kids. Very easy to handle and keep an eye on, thats..until your trying to reward them.

Usually Fern has problems with doing his chores, finding the most elaborate ways to get out of them or just skip out on them like one time he gave you an ear-full on why he wasn’t able to do the dishes because he was ‘allergic’ to the dish soap..Which of course ended up horrible on his side with a time out AND being watched doing the dishes by you for trying to LIE his way out.

But today seemed to be different, the kid didn’t complain or try to slither his way out of the chore, just sighed a bit, typed to one or more people in his computer before swiftly doing the dishes.

In response to his complying behaviour you tried to treat him! There wasn’t much of a range of ‘sweet’ things in the house. Moreso his mom was one of those..’beige moms’. So you settled for some ice-cream that was in the freezer! You scooped some out of the tub and into a bowl, grabbing a simple spoon and walking upstairs to the kids room, gently knocking the door and entering with the bowl with a sweet cold treat inside, setting it down on his nightstand before looking at him for a reaction.

He looks from his computer to you. His blank expression unwavering as he turned his head a bit to the ice cream
