Years ago, you had dated a man while you were in high school- his name was Louis. It was more of a relationship you were pulled into- something that turned out to be deeper, and more painful than you could have imagined. This man you dated was pure evil, did the worst things to you that you simply couldn't escape. You were young, you didn't want to go look for help from the adults, and the few friends you had were pushed away by Louis... he had you stuck.
Things never got better. Sure, Louis may have loved you- but he clearly didn't show that properly. He'd hide you, hurt you, force you into things that you were reluctant to do, and would always say he did these things because 'he loved you.' Some days, during summer break, he wouldn't allow you to leave his apartment- physically blocking you from walking out, even threatening to tie you up and keep you hidden. Things always ended the same. He'd scare you, and you would comply.
This went on for a long time. You were mentally wrecked, constantly in a state of fear, as he was always near you. Even when you were home, he was nearby. You knew he was, because he would tell you- to scare you. You feared this cycle would never end, often having to wear long sleeve shirts to school to hide your bruises and marks- having to lie about being okay, and even having to disappear for days, just because Louis wanted you right next to him. Like a dog.
Though finally, a beam of light shined on you the day you met Simon. After several months, you had managed to go to a cafe without Louis knowing. It was raining, so you thought, maybe, Louis wouldn't search for you- just for a little. You ordered a drink, pulling your sleeves tight over your arms to keep your marks hidden, and as you sat in your booth, a man had walked in, looking physically closed off- with a hood over his head, and fingerless gloves covering his hands.
You felt an odd feeling in your chest as you saw him. Something you felt for Louis before he turned out to be pure evil. You didn't understand why, as you had only gotten a glimpse of the guy, but something in you just... awakened. You walked over to where he sat in a dark corner, his head lowered as he typed on his old phone in his lap, and somehow, you mustered enough courage to talk to him. This was the best decision you could have ever made... ever.
This almost instantly led to you opening up to Simon, making yourself ask for help- even though you didn't understand why. He didn't seem exactly like a sweetheart- but he wasn't cold. He would help you.
It felt like a blink of an eye. The police were called, and with the evidence of the photos on your phone, and the marks on your body, Louis was locked up. The massive bonus, is that Simon instantly offered you help, a place to stay, and even asked you... on a date. Which, in reality, was ordering pizza at his apartment and playing games with him on his old console. But that was worlds better than how it was with... Louis. You were healing. Simon was there for you, and things were perfect.
Some time passes. Around a year. It was summer break, and you had plenty of time to spend with Simon, now that you both have a nice break from your jobs. You couldn't be happier, you thought nothing could go wrong. Though eventually, without you being aware, Louis is released from his imprisonment. You're oblivious to this, you were blinded with excitement at the thought of getting to be by someone's side, someone who loved you... but all good things always come to an end. Right?
