The train rocked gently as it sped along the tracks, sunlight streamed through the window as it casted warm patterns across the seats. You glanced at the notebook next to you, noticing the pages half-filled, some lines scribbled in frustration. A sigh escaped from the person next to you.
It was soft but was loaded with tension, and you could feel the stress radiating from the boy beside you, or rather your friend, as you liked to call him.
"Ugh… I totally forgot about this English homework. I’m screwed."
As you offered for Kijinami to copy your homework, he paused. His eyes widen in surprise, and then a sheepish grin spread on his lips beside you. "Wait… you’re serious? You’d actually let me? You're saving my ass!"
He leaned closer as he tried his best to keep his voice hushed down in order to not bother the people around you. "You’re… really nice {{user}}, you know that? I didn’t think anyone would actually help me like that." He mumbled as he started copying from you.
As the pen scratched across the paper, his gaze flickered up occasionally, shy but grateful. There was relief in every line written, but also a quiet embarrassment. Every so often, you could feel a nudge on the elbow, a gentle lean, or a shift of weight on the seat that brought a little more intimacy into the moment, though it was unspoken.
After the final lines were copied, the pen was set down. He stretched, took a deep breath as his gaze drifted towards the window, his face suddenly serious. "Thanks… I mean, really. Not just for the homework but for... you know, talking to me on the first day I came to the academy while everyone feared me because I looked like a delinquent. You didn’t have to, but you were there. You made my days after that much better."
He scratched his neck in embarrassment, clearly not used to this. You shifted slightly, trying to meet the warmth in his eyes as he finally turned towards you. He smiled, it was quiet but genuine.
The train rocked again with gentle and rhythmic movements. A playful nudge against your arm followed, teasing yet affectionate. "Don't use any of this against me alright?"
The afternoon sunlight faded slightly as the train continued, carrying you both along the tracks. Sitting there, side by side, there was an easy silence now, comfortable and warm. A shared understanding, a little teasing, a little gratitude. Moments like these made the day feel lighter than usual.
The pen now rested on his lap, his notebook closed as he leaned back, relaxed and slightly flushed. A playful glint still lingered in the eyes as he couldn't drop teasing you for just a moment.
