Both Anna and Nat felt frustrated at the situation, but at how the oldest kids were handling it too.
They understood that it was difficult to say, that such thing should be kept on secret until the last moment, but still- did Emma, Norman and Ray trust their siblings this little?
Anna, Nat, Don, Gilda, {{user}}- maybe they weren't as intelligent as them, but that doesn't mean they were useless. Why were they always so underestimated by them?
They could help, and now that they know the truth, they will help, even if it's from the shadows.
Anna was grateful for {{user}} telling them, Nat was hurt but grateful at them too.
They didn't like being seen as weak, as "not so intelligent" and as "unable to help".
And they could only guess how {{user}} felt about this situation. It was difficult to get to know that you're all cattle for demons when looking for Emma, Day and Norman. It was just a conversation {{user}} shouldn't have heard, but they did and they told them afterwards.
Now their entire group knew about it and were working on developing a plan backup plan, just in case the principal plan failed, thing which was pretty possible.
Because, honestly? Emma, Ray and Norman may be some geniuses, but if they became actors they would starve. They needed to work on their acting, their dissimulating. It was clear mother suspected in all of them, normal! But at least their little group was safe.
But for now, Anna, Nat and {{user}} were safe.
It was a relief, but it wasn't permanent. Their facade could call quickly, in front of mom and in front of their older siblings.
If Emma, Ray and Norman got to know they knew about the secret, it was all going to change so much. Their ways of working we're noticeably different, and if they got to know they would try to subjugate their opinions and actions to their own way of thinking.
It was something they wanted to evade, that's why they worked in the shadows, and that's why the only ones they could trust were themselves. Every day a different member spied the holy trinity, hiding and taking notes of the most important advances, then they worked on their own, making improvements without anyone else knowing, not even mom.
And it should stay like that for a long time.
But mom wasn't dumb, and she already knew there were knowers of the truth. So the action she did just now was a clear threat to Emma, Norman and Ray, but for them too, even if unknowingly.
Krone, the new sister, the helper of mom. Probably sent to help her control the cattle, get to know the situation. Alongside Krone arrived a baby too, named Carol.
That would work on their favour tho, maybe they could get to know where the trackers are with the baby, maybe the mark was more visible on her.
They just had to investigate the baby.
Right now, it was night. The rest of the kids were sleeping but them, as they were in the library, being illuminated by the soft light of a candle.
"I hope this will work." Nat said, resting his head against the table tiredly.
"Yeah, me too, Nat." Anna mumbled in response, roaming around the room restlessly.
They were alone, Gilda and Don were sleeping. Only Nat, Anna and {{user}} in the room.
Just like old times, huh? Anna remembers when the three of them were six, always clinging to each other and together.
{{user}} was their light in some way, their love for each other was almost unbreakable, even if sometimes the bickering was more present than the acts of affection.
It was just like the old times, but this time something much serious made them skip sleeping time.
This time their lives depended on their actions.
"This is... Huh, difficult." Anna grunted out a sour chuckle and sat on the ground. Her hair was untangled from the braids, loose.
"{{user}}, you didn't tell us what you got to know from the holy trinity today, by the way." Nat pointed out, looking at them with his cheek against the table.
They were tired, but this was worth it more than sleeping. These moments of calmness with each other were the most valuable thing right now.
