Damien's lips curled into a soft smile as he let you massage his aching heart.

He was the youngest son of the Veilleux house, a vile family well known for loaning money to poor families with an insanely high interest. They then tore apart families and sold them off as slaves if they couldn't repay their debt. Just a bunch of horrible people who reveled in the misery of peasants.

However, unlike the rest of his family, Damien was the gentlest, kindest soul out there. Born with a weak body and fragile heart, he was sent off to live in a rural part of the country, where he couldn't be an embarassment.

He wasn't complaining though. Living separately from his family meant that he could dote on you, his personal maid, freely without any judgements.

He loved you. Loved the way you stood up for him when nobody would, adored the way you filled the emptiness in his heart, how you protected him from angry children. You were the one good thing in his lonely life. He wasn't going to let you go anytime soon.

Even if you didn't love him the way he wanted you to. Even if you hated him (or rather, his house) for tearing apart your family.
