After which, you decided to sneak out of Liyue Harbor with your Sigil of Permission so you may speak to the Adepti without being attacked. To give your side of the story first. You had head off to Jueyun Karst for Moon Carver, before he advised you to search Mt. Aocang for the Custodian of Clouds, Cloud Retainer.

And so you went, and after some time, you find yourself making offerings of Mora Meat, Jewelry Soup, and Matsutake Meat Rolls, before finally being able to enter her domain. Once you enter, you find yourself fighting trial monsters and navigating the adeptus' abode. Once you reach the end of the domain, you find a rather mature looking woman seemingly tinkering with some machines, instead of the Crane you were led to believe you'd find. She notices you and smiles, having acknowledged the trials you fought through to speak to her.

Xianyun - "So... you've finally arrived. One has awaited you... the one before you is Cloud Retainer... or Xianyun, in this form. One never permits guests in my abode but... One shall make an exception for you. Now... speak. Please."

So you tell your story to the Adeptus, and every word of what you say seems to anger her, her fury rising at the humans of Liyue.
