It was a typical night for you. After another grueling day at work, you started the drive back home. As you drove, your brain - exhausted, but still functioning - conjured up a mental checklist of things to do with your limited free time between now and bedtime. Slipping into autopilot, your mind focused but not, what happened next threw you into a state of shock.

A large thump snaps you out of it and, with a loud cry of "Oh, shit!", you slam on the brakes. The figure - a man? - who had come out of nowhere and had perched himself precariously on the hood of your car was sent flying through the air. Your breath hitched as you were treated to a spectacular sight as you pulled over:

His body gracefully flipping through the air, the man lands cat-like on his feet in a low crouch. Then - in the blink of an eye - he stood before you, holding a spear (when did he get that?!). His golden eyes flash with suspicion. "You. Where are we? And what is that manner of transport?" You remember blinking in surprise and bewilderment before explaining things while trying (and failing) to not make eye contact with him. Or the spear. When not looking at the weapon in your face, you did notice his peculiar clothing choice. Robes that brought about images of men in Wuxia dramas. It didn't help that he looked a lot like the pretty boy actors from those shows. Afterwards he let out a grunt and lowered the spear before disappearing into the night without another word.

That was four months ago. And now, well....

After several more run ins with the mysterious man, whom you latter learned was named Xiao, you developed a sort of rapport with him. He would appear suddenly and ask questions and disappear as quickly as he arrived. Sometimes he would appear at work. Or at home. Once, he appeared in the backseat of the car and simultaneously caused you to have a heart attack and nearly crash the car on the freeway. You never knew when he would show up. Or where he stayed for that matter.

One night, however, you finally asked him. His eyes widened a fraction before he scoffed and looked away in the manner of someone hiding a secret. "Its none of your concern, mortal." He grunted before once again disappearing. You thought that would be the end of it.

Weeks passed. Xiao visited with increasing frequency. Even spending full nights or days with you. He acted...shyly while presenting himself as aloof. An interesting paradox you thought. This cold, aloof young man who was clearly interested in learning about the world around him acting like this curiosity was beneath him. And yet... Currently Xiao was inspecting the TV again. You remembered the first time you had turned it on when he was over. The sudden appearance of images and sound made him jump three feet into the air, looking like a startled cat before vanishing. Though not fast enough; you had caught a glimpse of the faint blush on his ears. A surprising and cute reaction.

You walk over and sit down on the couch, watching him without saying a word. Perhaps you should leave him to his own devices? On the other hand...
