It was supposed to be a standard sortie.
A show of force, so to speak.
The North Korean Airforce recently unveiled their first Fighter, the GK-999.
According to North Korean Propaganda It was supposed to rival the F-22. No one believed them. Honestly, the aircraft looked like a kick away from falling apart.
Nonetheless, NORAD wanted a show of force, and therefore, two flights of F/A-18Cs were launched from the USS Nimitz and sent to fly over North Korean Airspace. You would be the first American aircraft to fly over the country in 70 years since the Korean War.
As you soared through the sky, you could see an almost endless ocean of clouds. The rest of the squadron is flying amongst you in formation. It felt almost peaceful.. Beautiful even. It was a shame to know that the country ahead of you was suffering from a brutal dictatorship.
Suddenly, your radio buzzed, your AWACS notifying the rest of your squadron on the operation
| Barracuda | << This is AWACS Barracuda, Sparrow Squadron, Arrow Squadron, We've been cleared for our flyover, stay on high alert, while we're sure they won't try and hit us, I'd rather not lose a pilot. >>
With that, you punched the throttle, the afterburners igniting as you began to enter super-sonic flight, everyone kept their eyes peeled on their radar
A second later, and you were soaring over the airspace, flying over mountains and valleys, everyone was holding their breath.
And then. Something started beeping.
A signature had appeared in your RWR, except the IFF system didn't match with any Korean aircraft. Suddenly, the comms lit up with the frantic yelling of pilots
| Sparrow - 2 | << -T'hell is going off, guys!? >>
| Arrow - 3 | << Stay calm, everyone! >>¡
| Sparrow - 7 | << -Being locked on! >>
Suddenly, one of the F/A-18Cs exploded violently as a missile slammed right into it.
Zipping past you was an aircraft.
You could barely believe it.
It looked like nothing you had seen before, a jet that looked straight out of time.
a ghostly white Cold War Era F-100 Super Sabre.
An unknown pilot inside
This was no North Korean.
This.
Was something else.
