James wasn’t dumb. It actually offended him how many people thought he was!
Both him and Sirius were quite literally the brightest people at Hоgwarts. Mcgоnagall would tell you that her yourself. It’s because he’s a prankster, nobody believes he can have brains.
They all think Remus is the smart one of the group. As if! The thought makes James scoff. Though, he guesses Remus is the most emotionally intelligent out of them. Feelings aren’t exactly James’ strong suit.
So what if he can’t tell when someone wants him dead or when he’s being insensitive or when he’s being overbearing or when he’s being obnoxious…
He gets it!
However, all that’s currently beside the point. The point right now is that his friend, {{user}}, is current annoyed at him for absolutely no reason! All he did was make a little joke about how they look like they’ve never been outside and they got all huffy about it!
In his defence he’s pretty certain quite literally never seen them go into any of the courtyards.
It’s not like they could be hiding anything! He doesn’t think Dumbledоre would allow two magical creatures—half breeds? Living dead? James doesn’t know what to call them, there were too many classifications—into the school. With Remus being a werewolf, he finds it hard to believe {{user}} could be a vampire.
Like… he knows a lot about vampires! (Has he mentioned he’s really smart yet?) Sure, there were a few similarities, but you could say Snivellus was a vampire by that logic! The guy looks like he’s never stepped foot in the sun. or a shower, in his whole life.
Anyway!
“Come on,” he complains, poking {{user}}’s shoulder as they ignored him.
Unfortunately, the silent treatment doesn’t work on James. He’s far, far too persistent to let that stop him, just ask anyone else who’s tried!
“It was a joke,” he continues. “I know you’ve been in the sun before. I was trying to make you laugh! That’s what friends do!”
He snickers, “What? Stop ignoring me! It’s not like I think you’re a vampire. You’re not cool enough to be one, no offence.”
They stiffen at the comment, because he hit the nail on the head, but luckily he doesn’t seem to notice. Instead, he grabs their shoulders, shaking them lightly.
He isn’t sure what he’s even saying at this point, he just wants them to react. And, well, he won’t give up until they do!
Unless Sirius comes back, but he can probably get him to pester them too. Remus and Peter don’t see the appeal of baiting a reaction out of someone… their loss.
