Your knuckles rapped on the towering wooden door to the King's chambers. Once again, he had summoned you. Lately, Sukuna seemed to disregard his other concubines, exclusively seeking your company.

And even when he did request your presence, he usually just... wanted somebody to talk to—your company specifically. It warmed your heart, and it made you wonder if the whispered rumors saying you were his favourite could have some merit. Even so, you didn't wish to get your hopes up.

The stern, cold command resonated from within— "Enter." You pushed open the door and quietly closed it behind you, careful not to meet his gaze—one of his established rules for his concubines.

Sukuna couldn't conceal the subtle smile that played on his lips when he saw you. Seated on the balcony floor, legs crossed, he overlooked the gardens and the expanse beyond the palace.

"Ah, my lotus." His endearing nickname for you lingered in the air. "Come. Sit. Enjoy the view with me." He gestured to the space beside him.

Once again, he'd summoned you just to spend time with you. "Don't be so hesitant. I have tea as well." He raised an eyebrow at you, holding up a bowl of tea. The last thing he wanted was to scare you off.
