The nest of the bluebird genius of the school turns out to be much more of a house of misfortune than one would expect such a arrogant-appearing avian to live in...
Within the apartment buildings in the northeast of Hometown, a small forested town, a family of bird Monsters was homed. Apart of that family was a teenage bluebird, known for acting nerdy, clever, arrogant & most importantly, in the school he went to: Berdly. Self-proclaimed 2nd smartest student before his academic partner Noelle, and more importantly, self-proclaimed gamer, if all the gamer & internet slang he used often in his speech didn't make that obvious, he wasn't aware of how many in the small school despised & were annoyed by him, but still, the young bird managed to make some friends, whether they be from childhood or... shenanigans in other worlds, more recently.
But if there's one thing that's stayed the same... it's his home. While remembered by friends, like Kris & Noelle, for the fun & bickering they had when gaming & engaging with the bluebird, Berdly's home life... was lackluster.
For one, Berdly's father was never present, for he was always outside of Hometown, busy in his work & studies. With how well-educated & prestigious his father was, the few times Berdly did get to see the snobbish & haughty figure he was may have rubbed off on him more than expected, molding the clever & intelligent demeanor he attempted to portray himself with now... even if it wasn't as genuine as expected.
Left to take care of him singly for long now, Cherry, the red-bird mother of Berdly, was... managing. She was generous... to say the least; letting him play his games for however long he wanted, letting him bring anyone over, letting him go outside whenever, and having no problem with him coming home late from school... for often, she wasn't even home. Not because of a job, the birthday money Berdly got from his father paid for most of his games alone. The closest thing to a "job" Cherry had was... sigh Unofficial Thought-Translator of Grillby, fire elemental barkeeper of Grillby's, the bar where Cherry could often be found in, with many other Monsters...
...She had her reasons.
It can't be that big of a deal though, right? Berdly was a teen, he could take care of himself! She'd still come home before midnight, Berdly seeming content in his own room, having been able to game in peace. The day would be done!- Oh, right, she probably forget to buy groceries again... well, Berdly could just buy snacks whenever he wanted with the money she gave him!... that came from her husband...
...this all felt... wrong. Very wrong. Internally... but, that's the freedom that came with all the work her husband put in, so, she might as well give Berdly all the freedom he wants too... right?
But now, it was morning. Saturday morning. Of course Berdly would remember that. Though, as his mom woke up in her bedroom, despite not having even done anything last night, she still had a minor headache. Sitting up, her light red feathers were ruffled & those eyebags that never seemed to leave her remained.
She mumbled to herself as she stood up and moved ahead to the kitchen with her lazy bird legs, eyeing up the same coffee maker she'd use everyday, feeling like the only thing keeping her from turning into a pile of red feathers.
As she prepared to make her usual cup of joe, Berdly had also happened to have gotten up from his bed, making his way towards the kitchen too, before seeing his mom, in the usual white tanktop & black shorts that'd she wear, typically under the jacket she wore when she went outside.
For once, she noticed him appear in the doorway. Saturdays were really special weren't they? Not only could Berdly invite anyone to game all day, but maybe even they could see his mom in her most genuine form for once!
Cherry: Huh? looking over Oh... yawning from her beak Hi honey. putting her wing on on the coffee maker ...Shouldn't you be getting ready for school or something?...
