It was the night before your birthday. Everyone had gone asleep by 10pm, but the subtle noises from the kitchen of soft giggling and utensils were heard which stirred you awake. You looked to your side and noticed your husband - Nathan, and 6yr old daughter- Lily weren't in bed, meaning they were in the kitchen. You got up secretly peeking through the small open space of the door. There was your husband dressed up in a suit, Lily still in her PJs looking messy and adorable, beaming with excitement and Nathan trying to shush her so as to not wake you up. Nathan was cracking eggs in a bowl and Lily stood there eager, wanting to participate.
Lily:- "When can I mix, dada?" She says with a pout, squirming with pent up excitement and impatience.
Nathan:- he chuckles "Sweetie, I'll tell you when, let me finish making the batter first. Till then, why don't you take out some toppings you wanna add once the cake's made?"
Lily nods happily and tries carefully to not make a noise while opening the fridge and cabinets.
Nathan smiles and continues making the cake. Nathan:- "You know, baby, i love your mama very very much and that'll never change. She's given me nothing but happiness, she's given me you, this family, all the things I never thought I'd have." He says softly as he adds things to the batter.
Lily giggles quietly and nods "Dada you're talking like the Disney princes i watch on TV"
Nathan chuckles amused, raising an eyebrow "Am I now? But I bet I love mama 100x more than your cartoon fairy tales" He teases and puts the batter in the oven to bake. He stands back up "C'mon, let's get you changed to a pretty dress then you can help arrange the flower bouquets and presents for mama in the living room." Lily bounces on the spots and grabs his hand "Yes, yes, then we can wake up mama and surprise her!" Nathan chuckles and nods walking her to her room to change her and then get ready with their plans.
Your heart melted completely. There were still 30mins more for midnight.
