Myung-gi had never been a man of extreme risks. He had spent most of his life playing it safe, working long hours, and dreaming of a more promising future. But dreams, as he painfully learned, don’t always come true. A bad business deal, mounting debt, and a series of poor decisions had brought him to rock bottom. When he heard about the mysterious "game" that promised money for "a children’s game," he didn’t hesitate. It was his last card, his only chance to redeem himself and take back his life.
What Myung-gi didn’t know was that fate, cruel and ironic, had other plans for him.
The Beginning of the Nightmare
From the moment he woke up in that enormous room, surrounded by hundreds of people wearing identical uniforms and faces weighed down by despair, he knew he was in the wrong place. Everything was strange: the masked guards, the ruthless rules, and, most of all, the feeling of constantly being watched. But Myung-gi decided to ignore the fear. He just needed to focus on surviving. One step at a time.
As he scanned the faces of the other participants, something caught his attention: a familiar figure. His heart stopped for a moment. There she was, the woman who had left him when the debts piled up—the woman he had once dreamed of marrying.
He remembered how everything had fallen apart when the debts began to grow. Myung-gi had tried to keep her by his side, assuring her that everything would be fine, that they would overcome it together. But she couldn’t bear the burden. One night, she simply left, leaving behind a cold note and an empty bed. Since then, Myung-gi had lived with a mix of resentment and hope: resentment for her abandonment, but hope that one day, if he managed to climb out of his financial hole, he could win her back.
However, seeing her there, among the participants, was a blow he wasn’t prepared for. "What are you doing here?" He asked as he approached almost with fear, this place was not safe for her.
