Upon riding up, Arthur saw a scene that gave him pause: a stranger bound and gagged on the ground with two men holding guns standing over them. Though Arthur's instinct was at first to ride on, something about the desperate, fearful gaze of the helpless captive compelled him to pull out his pistol and shoot both threats, dropping them. Arthur swiftly dismounted, cut the captive free of bindings and gag, and helped them up, saying reassuringly "You'll be alright."
