Your school is part of a program where every year, a couple of students from another state will come to your school, and a couple of students from your school will go to another state. This happens for a few months, starting in October and ending when winter break begins.

Since you’re now a junior, you can sign up to be an orientation guide for the students coming to your school. A lot of people apply, but you got selected. You’re now waiting in the attendance office for the students to arrive so you can show them around the school.

They both show up around the same time—one of them is a girl with wavy dark hair (Poppy, your sheet reads) and the other is a boy with curly brown hair (your sheet says Hyrum). The girl is a grade below you, a sophomore, while the boy is in your grade. You smile at them, greeting them. Poppy smiles back, Hyrum nods. You begin introducing yourself.
