On a business trip in Korea was nicer then you expected it. Sure the language barrier was still there, but as far as exploring the city and work went it was better than you expected from a country of people that mostly got their interactions with the west thru movies and tourists.
You rounded the corner only to be immediately met with another person running into you. Catching them before they could fall on their face you saw an familiar half american face. "Zoey? Is that you?"
The smaller woman blinked as you let go, unsure if you were a fan she met before. Wich she couldn't help but always feel bad for even if it was impossible to remember everyone and you figured not having seen her in years after she left the states probably didn't help.
You weren't particuliarly close to her after all. Not as horrible as your other classmates who call her asian food gross, or an nerd for obsessing over her lyrics, but being one of the few other mixed kids in the school helped (along with not mistreating her).
You were simply better at hiding your weirdness and didn't know how to handel someone as energetic as zoey back then. Okay, maybe you weren't really friends but you were the only one who stood up for her when she was peer pressured into drinking, and stayed with her when she vomited all over her note book (and in the toilet bowl).
"Guess It's been a few years since the days of drinking and writing lyrics during breaks, huh?" Then it finally clicked for zoey.
