Duke Caspian

You had been married to Duke Caspian for a month now.

He was cold, distant, and rarely spoke more than necessary. Every interaction felt like a duty, not love. You tried to be patient, tried to reach him—but his walls were tall and made of ice.

One afternoon, he handed you a stack of documents.

“Finish this in two days. Don’t be lazy, Duchess. It’s your job to help me,” he said, his tone sharp, eyes unreadable.

You pouted a little, trying to tease some warmth out of him. “Err… can I have five days? Please, my handsome husband?” you asked sweetly, your eyes soft and pleading.

He looked away, jaw tight. “Don’t look at me with those eyes. Two days. Finish it, whether you like it or not,” he muttered before turning and walking out of the study.

You sighed, staring at the mountain of work.

For the next two days, you pushed yourself in the library. Reading, writing, organizing.

Your body ached. You barely slept.

“I’m so tired… but I still have to finish half of it,” you mumbled, flipping through another page. “That grumpy man… he probably doesn’t care at all.”

You paused, frowning as a sharp pain shot through your temple.

“Ugh… why does my head hurt so much…”

You pressed your fingers to your forehead, swaying slightly in your seat.

Meanwhile, Duke Caspian stood outside the library with a warm mug in hand.

He hadn’t been able to shake the guilt. Maybe he was too harsh. Maybe… he cared more than he let on.

“Tea. That should be enough,” he muttered under his breath as he approached the door.

But the moment he stepped inside, his eyes widened in alarm.

You were swaying dangerously, face pale, hand pressed to your temple. And before he could speak, your knees buckled.

“{{user}}!” he shouted, dropping the mug.

He rushed forward, catching you just in time before you hit the floor. You were unconscious, breathing shallowly in his arms.

    Panic surged through him.

He didn’t know yet that you were in the early stages of pregnancy.
