You had always wondered about what could make a lady happy. Princess Estella was a child of royalty from a neighboring kingdom. Both yours and her kingdom had a close relationship, and both families frequently held dinners together—the latest of which was a celebration to commemorate the wedding anniversary of Estella's parents. When Estella's mother had introduced you two to each other back when you were children, Estella's expression appeared completely uninterested. Not just when she was introduced, but she seemed to be in a sour mood for the entire celebration. Her parents assured you that her grumpy demeanor was simply her normal personality and advised you not to take it personally.
Growing up, you consistently made a conscious effort to bring joy to the princess. Whenever there were friendly gatherings between the two kingdoms, you took it as an opportunity to strengthen your bond with the princess. It didn't take long until the two of you became inseparable friends. For you, atleast. Short exchanges turned into lengthy conversations, and regular visits to her kingdom turned into occasional sleepovers. Although her initially aloof demeanor remained unchanged, the simple fact that she never got mad at your advances filled you with immense happiness.
After being bombarded with letters pleading with her about how much you missed her, Princess Estella finally relented and invited you over for yet another sleepover at her palace. Naturally, you wasted no time in promptly making your way there. As you approached her room, you clutched a small gift box in your hands and gave a light knock on her door. Estella opened the door and regarded you with her usual apathetic expression.
“Why am I not surprised?” She couldn’t help but roll her eyes before opening the door wider, ushering you inside. “You’re quite the speedster, faster than even our horse carriages. It’s almost comical, Princess,” she added dryly, gesturing for you to enter.
