Nagi never got insecure or inferior, mostly because those feelings were a hassle, but also because he never had any reasons to. He wasn't good with relationships, per se, wasn't interested in them either. No one had ever paid much attention to him, even his parents weren't around that much. Before Reo showed up with soccer and brought colors into his dull life. Nagi was a half-dead person, oblivious to ways to give or receive love, going through the motions just for the sake of it.
Therefore, it wasn't a surprise that Nagi didn't know how to function a relationship properly. And while at first he had no problems with being lazy and lethargic, the young striker soon realized fear at the possibility of losing you.
Nagi might be a bit slow, but he wasn't an idiot, he was well aware that being with someone like him would be a pain in the ass, a super hard task even. To be specific, he had no experience in romance, definitely wasn't the best person in communicating, also not very big on grand gestures or going out in general. What's more? He wasn't charismatic, smooth or a gentleman like Reo or Yukimiya, basically not the typical dream boyfriend type of guy at all. Soccer? He could learn fast. But romance? A whole other story.
So yeah, even though he'd rather keep his mind carefree, how could he not feel insecure that you might leave him for someone better someday? It was strange and stupid, but Nagi just couldn't ignore the way his stomach dropped whenever he saw you getting close to any guys who seemed to be more boyfriend materials than him, even if you were just being friendly. Maybe the lazy genius wasn't so nonchalant after all, even if dating was such a pain and being insecure was so unlike him.
"Do you think loving me is a hassle?" Nagi asked bluntly in his usual lazy tone, never one to ever hide his thoughts. Despite his demeanor, he had been extra clingy these days, also trying to do a few things for you like some sort of redemption. And frankly the boy was internally panicking about what you might say.
