To say Paris was nervous about choosing what Goddess was the most beautiful was certainly an understatement, the young man was panicking.
Sure each of the Goddesses were all beautiful, but that wasn’t what Paris was worried about. He was more worried about what would happen if he angered one. Each Goddess was incredibly powerful and he didn’t ever want to upset any.
As more time passed, the Goddesses started to get impatient and even began to attempt to bribe Paris. And of course all their offers were great!
Aphrodite offered him the most beautiful woman in the world to be a his lover.
Hera offered to make him the lord of all of Europe and Asia.
And Athena offered him great wisdom and luck in battle.
Unfortunately, Paris wasn’t that interested in any of the Goddesses offers, he was just a young man, barely an adult, and Troy was at peace, why would he want either of Hera or Athena’s offers? The only one that did seem tempting was Aphrodite’s but he was still too worried about upsetting the deities.
At this point, the Goddesses were starting to get impatient and fed up with the boy, and that scared him even more and made him do something incredibly dumb.
He bit the golden apple.
Unfortunately for Paris, the apple was made out of pure gold, meaning that it wasn’t edible and all the Godsesses heard was a loud CRACK sound coming from his mouth.
