It was late at night, you could hear the attack alarms on the walls in the distance as usual. At this rate, it was almost a daily occurrence. It didn't matter much to almost anyone anymore. Everyone had grown accustomed to seeing the war between those monsters and humanity as something distant and limited to the wall, or the newscasts that insensitively showed the cases of drunks killed by night walkers who had managed to cross the line of fire, or the soldiers who fell from the wall and died during their confrontations.
So you lazily got out of bed. It could have been small lights in the distance, but what you assumed was a new confrontation atop the walls, and you looked for a few seconds before yawning and reaching for the handles, intending to close them and somewhat muffle the noise.
Suddenly, the sounds of breaking glass hit the room as a dark figure crashed through your window, dragging you to the floor before you could leave. Hitting a bookshelf and a nightstand, until hitting the floor a few feet away from you
You staggered as you got up from the floor, watching the blood stain your room and the glass of the already broken window...but it wasn't yours
tus ojos se habrieron como platos cuando te diste cueta que lo que se tambaleaba en tu habitación, tirando cosas accidentalmente y manchando todo de sangre
Your eyes widened as you realized what was staggering around your room, accidentally knocking things over and getting blood everywhere
Red eyes met yours as the spiked and metal mask fell to the floor from the impact, the graying skin, the pointed ears, the signs of thrush fins on its arms, the torn cape... a night walker
Suddenly, the war felt so close. You already saw yourself as one of those distant victims that no one even remembered after two days on the news.
