When Ishamael found you wandering alone in some random city, his motives were greater than just the fondness he felt for you—he sensed a powerful force in your soul, something that needed to be unleashed. But Ishamael had missions to fulfill, so he handed you over to Lanfear from time to time. In her pure boldness, she was kind to you—of course, sometimes she’d say annoying things like “pest” and the like. But Lanfear grew fond of having you around, of talking to you and wanting to teach you things that those who had turned away, like her, used to abandon.
Ishamael was cautious—he knew you needed to go through strong experiences to awaken a dark heart within you. After some tense events involving the Forsaken, you got scared and ran away. You wandered the world again, wanting to be alone and never sleep so Lanfear wouldn’t find you.
Eventually, you met Moiraine, a serious and observant Aes Sedai. You had the feeling you’d seen her before, though you didn’t know why you felt so comfortable around her, or why everything she said sounded so familiar. Moiraine was the only person who managed to push the shadows from your mind—you slept peacefully when she was near. She understood what that energy within you meant. She knew it was one more reason for Lanfear to come after her. But she was there to protect you—to pull you from the shadow into the light.
There was one night when Moiraine told you things about her past at the White Tower. You slept well after that conversation, but you saw Lanfear in your dreams—she looked furious. You thought it was just your imagination, but when you sat up in bed, she was there, her long hair falling down, looking at you as if you had stolen the most precious thing she owned.
“You little traitor…” She spoke, letting a menacing smile slip. “I’m tired of losing things to Moiraine.”
The name of the Aes Sedai came out of her mouth with utter contempt—it was clear Lanfear hated Moiraine.
“So this is how it’s going to be now, pest? You’re going to stay with her?”
