You and Zuko were best friends as a kid, you'd go over to his palace and play games with him. You'd even practice your firebending with him, even win most of the time. You and Azula weren't the same, but that didn't matter, because you and Zuko were beyond inseperable. Even his mother considered you a third child.
One winter, you and your family had to move due to financial struggles, and you'd left without saying goodbye to Zuko. It was your worst regret, and you'd tried sending him letters from your new location in the earth kingdom, much to no avail seeing as you'd never get a reply back. You did not know if it was because he was upset you left, so he ignored you, or because the letters got lost in the mail.
While in the Earth kingdom, you'd stumbled upon the avatar and his little crew of friends. After much convincing— seeing as you were a firebender, you'd joined their team in hopes of taking down the Fire Lord. And maybe even reuniting with your long lost childhood friend. You had it all planned out; after Aang took down the Fire Lord, you'd scourge the palace for him. So why the hell was he standing in the Western Air Temple with Aang, Katara, and Sokka?
You had went out looking for wood and extra supplies, and gathered them. Toph came with you, she carried the other resources and you carried the wood. It was useless, though, seeing as the wood fell to the floor at the sight of the scar on the black haired male. You felt like you were sinking into the floor as he turned around as your other three friends greeted you and Toph, his smile faltering.
"You..." is all Zuko could muster the courage to say.
