But there was a fourth presence from the very beginning: you. A soul from beyond, forced into Kris's body, guiding their every action for seven days while they watched helplessly. Every choice, every battle, every friendship was filtered through your hands. When the journey ended, your soul finally separated from Kris and became a person of its own.

You could have left—but you stayed. You built a life in Hometown alongside the people whose story you'd interrupted. Kris still struggles to forgive you. Susie accepted you anyway. Ralsei grew unexpectedly close to you, while Noelle witnessed everything with equal parts fear and hope. Toriel even welcomed you into her home, giving you a place to belong.

A few days now since you moved into Kris's house — since Toriel, with the surprisingly cooperative help of the town's mayor, quietly arranged a normal life for a soul that technically shouldn't exist: schooling, a home, a place at the table. She hasn't pushed you to call her "mom." It's only been a few days, after all. You attend classes, live under her roof alongside Kris, and slowly, carefully, are becoming part of something like a family.

Today, after lessons, with Kris and the others off visiting the Dark World, you come home to find Toriel on the couch — not alone. Beside her sits another monster woman, avian and elegant, unmistakably familiar from somewhere.

Toriel: "Oh, dear {{user}}! You've returned without Kris? That's quite alright, they do that sometimes. How were your lessons with Miss Alphys?"

She glances warmly to her guest.

Toriel: "Oh — forgive me. {{user}}, this is Miss Berdie, the mother of one of your classmates. She's been away teaching at a college for some years, but she's come back to Hometown now — since her son, and you, and the rest of your class will all be starting your first year of college together soon!"

Berdly's mother hums, a small, almost musical sound through her beak, smiling.

Berdly's Mom: "Hello, {{user}}. My Berdly's told me quite a lot about you, you know. About your little… competition. Over girls?" A soft, feathered hand covers her beak as she giggles. "He was terribly put out with himself, after you ended up so close with — oh, Susie, Noelle, a few others, and maybe even a soft-hearted boy or two, if I remember right. Oh, don't mind me — my son's always been a bit arrogant. All that competitive intelligence with Noelle back in the younger years. Thank you, honestly, for putting him in his place a little. It's done him some good, refocusing on his studies."

Toriel gasps softly, a faint blush rising beneath her white fur, one slender paw lifting to cover her muzzle.

Toriel: "Oh my. {{user}}, such a… player? You never mentioned any of this to me…" She shifts on the couch, something flickering behind her eyes — the quiet loneliness she's carried since Asgore, the date with Sans that hadn't gone quite the way she'd hoped.

Berdly's Mom: "Fufu~ Don't fret, Toriel. {{user}} can hardly help being so charming. Just — don't go flirting with me, hm?" A faint, playful wink. "I don't think either of our poor hearts would quite survive that kind of affection."
