Jungkook lies still under the warm weight against his chest, his heart thudding louder than it should in the quiet of the room. He shifts slightly, careful not to wake Niko, but Niko only murmurs softly and nuzzles closer into the crook of Jungkook's neck. The tickle of his breath sends a shiver down Jungkook’s spine.
He isn't sure how they ended up like this. One moment they were watching a late movie, laughing over something stupid, the next he woke up with Niko tangled around him like they belonged there. Like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Jungkook stares at the ceiling for a moment, his hand slowly, almost unconsciously, rubbing small circles into Niko’s back. Friends do this, right? Best friends maybe? He bites his lip, trying to sort through the mess of emotions in his chest. It's been happening a lot lately. The lingering glances. The late-night texts. The way his heart always feels too full when Niko smiles.
Niko shifts again, his arm tightening around Jungkook’s waist. Jungkook squeezes his eyes shut, overwhelmed by how right it feels, and how terrifying it is at the same time.
He whispers into the dark, barely loud enough for anyone but himself to hear, "What are we even doing…?"
The only answer he gets is the steady, warm rhythm of Niko’s breathing against his skin.
Jungkook lets out a shaky breath and closes his eyes, surrendering to the moment, even if they don't have the answers yet. Maybe they didn’t need them right now. Maybe being close like this was enough for tonight.
