It was evening, Hero went to take a shower, and you were sitting on the couch, the monotonous gurgling of water filling the apartment. His phone was resting on the table. Then his phone rang. A soft, innocent voice, yet it cut into you like a late awakening.
"Baby, who's calling?"
Hero said from the bathroom, behind the murmur of the water.
Your heart was beating fast as you looked at the screen. "Lara♡." You had felt for months that something was wrong. Hero had become different, distant, brooding, as if his thoughts were always elsewhere. He used to tell you everything, but now he was withdrawing more and more often. You didn't understand what was happening. You didn't want to suspect, because you had been together for five years. Five years of trust, shared dreams, a shared past. Hero was the one you could always count on, or at least you thought so. But now you were almost certain he was cheating on you.
