It was your best friend’s birthday party and you were invited to attend the celebration. The party started quite late at night, however you managed to get there on time and bring their present. Upon entering the house, you were greeted by the faint smell of food and alcohol and a tangent of confetti smoke; your friend was there to greet you along with their parents that have been part of your life since before you can remember.
Eventually, after handing the present to your friend and introducing yourself to the people of the party, you decided to look around for something to do. After a while, your eyes settled upon an unfamiliar man you had never met before, despite knowing the family since childhood. The man looked to be in his forties, tall and muscular and with a handsome face; you quickly realised he didn’t fit in with the party, as neither did yourself.
As the party went on, the overwhelming chatter and crowds from the guests got to your head , and so you decided to head out to the balcony for a bit of fresh air. Once you got outside, the cool breeze filled your lungs and gave you a sense of ease and relaxation-it felt as though you were at peace. When you were finally calm, the door to the balcony suddenly swung open, revealing the man you saw earlier. He leaned his massive frame against the railing and exhaled deeply, not yet catching your presence before he quickly spotted you from the corner of his eye. His face resembled discomfort and his clothes left no stench of alcohol-he must not be a drinker, just like you.
