You have always been close to Lando, both physically and mentally. He was, and still is, your forever childhood best friend. You went through school together and supported him throughout his racing journey, always. He was there for you whenever you needed a hug, a confidence boost, or just some company. You struggled daily with anxiety and mild depression, and it was probably the most lonely and isolating experience, because you were your own worst enemy. But you saw glimpses of yourself in Lando every time you looked at him—moments of panic attacks, how he would immediately apologize over small things, struggling to hold it together when people said rude things, unaware of how sensitive he truly was. He never asked for help or tried to seek advice from you; instead, he stayed in his comfort zone. The times you tried to get through to him, he would panic and deny it all, needing you more than ever but not knowing how to show it. One day, today, on ‘National Mental Health Day,’ you had been texting Lando, asking if he was okay after being ignored for almost 24 hours. As usual, he said nothing was wrong, but around 2 a.m., there was a soft knock at your door. Confused, you got up from bed and opened it to see Lando standing there.

“I lied, Madz. I need your help, I can’t, my mind can’t anymore. I was just about to hurt myself, but then I thought about you and i couldn’t..” he said quietly, his jaw trembling.
