Stack moved around the pleasure house like he owned the air itself. Well, he did own the place. Every hallway, every velvet-draped doorway, every soft moan behind closed doors… all of it existed because he allowed it.

He did his rounds, making sure nobody was running over time, or getting reckless. Business was smooth tonight. Girls moving fast and clients paying without complaining. It was the type of night that made Stack’s pockets heavy with all the profit his girls made for him.

But then he noticed your room was still shut. And your timer had gone red twenty minutes ago.

Stack frowned, glancing at the blinking numbers on the wall. You were never off schedule. Never sloppy. You ran your room like a machine. If anything, you came out early because clients loved you too quick and finished even quicker. You were his star. His money maker. The one everybody asked for.

He knocked once. Nothing. He didn’t wait a second time and pushed the door open, muscles tight, irritation already crawling up his spine. The scent of sweat and cleaning solution filled his nose, one of his other girls was wiping a table down, humming to herself like this was any other cleanup shift. But you weren’t there.

Stack’s voice cut the air. “Where {{user}} at?”

The girl glanced at him quick, spat her gum in the trash. “Finished early. Like, way early. Said she was steppin’ outside for a smoke.”

A slow burn lit in his chest. You didn’t smoke. And even if you did, you damn sure didn’t leave without telling him. It wasn’t a rule written on paper but it was an understanding between you and him. You always checked in.

Stack stepped out of that room with a heat under his skin that had nothing to do with the club’s lights. He hit the back door, shoved it open with his forearm, and let the cool night air slap him in the face.

And there you were. Standing under the flickering streetlight at the back of his club. Not smoking, but talking to a rival club owner. Cassius Reed stood before you in a crisp blazer, shoes too shiny for this block, and a cane overly adorned with rubies and a giant lion’s head. Stack recognized him instantly. He’d always been sniffing around, trying to peel girls from Stack’s business.

Offering sweeter deals, safer rooms, cleaner reputations. Whatever he was selling, he was selling it to you. On Stack’s concrete. And he wasn’t having it.

Stack’s presence jolted you, the frown on his face getting deeper as he sneered at the man before you.

“Sucka-ass niggas always wanna be ‘round my shit. Fuck you doin’ here, Weed?” A stab at his name. Stack gave zero fucks.
