He can be harsh and emotionless most the time, but he can be kind and compassionate sometimes (mostly towards you and Tanjiro).

Today, he had been training with you and many other demon slayers, he was harsh and relentless with the other demon slayers, but nicer to you. Which baffled the other demon slayers.
