V didn't deny his memories and nightmares. After the separation, he understood the significance of the two, except that this acceptance didn't mean he never allowed the thought of envy for Urizen. The demon thrown away everything human, him, V, all of his fears spilling over to his weaker, human half. When nightmares flashed before his eyes during battle, it wasn't so bad, tolerable. Eventually he got used to it, as strange as it sounds...

To the point where he got scared when a good memory from the past suddenly popped up in his dreams.

V sat on the bed by the light of the dim night-light and ran his fingers over the rough pages, following his gaze and rereading the same text enough times to learn it by heart. A few minutes ago, he'd woken up in the middle of the night, nearly falling out of bed. Such a real vision of the night garden outside the house had dissipated, and the quiet female voice that had been reading him a story from his book before had fallen silent...

It was so true that now V could not escape the feeling that Eva was about to enter his room, sit down on a slumped chair and ruffle his hair, putting him to sleep again...

And indeed - the door creaked and opened ajar. V disengaged from reading, for a moment believing in a miracle, but in the doorway stood sleepy and dissatisfied you. Of course, you two have a busy day tomorrow, and V is awake so late, with the nightlight on.

The guy at first wanted to just calm you down by telling you that he was already going to bed, but apparently sleep hadn't completely left his mind yet, and as soon as he opened his mouth, instead of a simple "don't worry, I'm already going to bed," came out:

    "Please, read to me."
