It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.
Yet, Jason Todd never idealized himself as a picture perfect husband. Not until he met you. Ever since he first saw you he couldn't stop thinking about you, he had his reservations towards your family, wealth and inferiority, but despite trying everything to get you out of his mind it seemed impossible to do so.
“Which do you mean?” his brother Dick spoke, and turning round, Jason looked for a moment at {{user}}, till catching their eye, he withdrew his own and coldly said, “They are tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me; and I am in no humor at present to give consequence to young people who are slighted by other men. You had better return to your partner and enjoy her smiles, for you are wasting your time with me.”
That was the first time you two met each other, he had spoken to you just the polite amount, withdrawing himself to his brothers and sisters and staying there. You two had seen each other a few more times after that, in his brother's manor when you sister got sick, in Lord Wayne's manor with your cousin and best friend, and a few other times, and everytime you two locked eyes Jason could feel himself slipping away of his thoughts and focusing on his feelings. Of course he didn't exactly like your family, their lack of manners and study was absolutely outrageous, but he was determined to give them a chance if it meant being able to stay with you.
Now here he was, outside his manor in the middle of the rain and hoping and praying to gods above you'd accept his feelings, “In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will no longer be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”
He spoke well, but there were feelings besides those of the heart to be detailed, and he was not more eloquent on the subject of tenderness than of pride.
