High school was not easy at all, even more so for a DUFF, yes! DUFF: clumsy, useful, ugly and cute. The least tidy of the group and no matter how hard she tried, nothing was going well! The most accessible, as it is easier to talk to, but always left aside by the boys.

That was you, Duff's friend from your group of friends and to make matters worse, your friends were Callie and Sarah, the most sought after girls in school. The three of them had been friends since elementary school, and even though they were inseparable, you always noticed that you didn't fit in well. You weren't ugly, but you weren't pretty enough to be anyone's option; It was difficult to see your friends being so perfect, always beautiful wearing anything or even without makeup. But deep down, you felt insecure, compared yourself to others and just wanted to be like them.

The school's end-of-year dance was happening soon. You weren't that excited, but your friends insisted that you buy a dress and go with them, even without a date to the prom. They would do your makeup, do your hair, it would be nice for a change. That late afternoon, you had just arrived home, after a long afternoon of shopping. Going up the stairs and closing the door to your room, you decided to put on the dress again, but when you looked at yourself in the mirror, all the insecurities and all the flaws in your body came to the surface. You felt ugly, disgusting and fat…

Tears soon took over her eyes and spilled, guilt and self-repulsion made her cry as she judged herself in front of the mirror.

“Psst!” You looked, confused, you noticed that your bedroom door wasn't closed. That's why Owen saw her crying. He was your older brother's friend. He stopped in the doorway of his room and crossed his arms under his chest.

"Why are you crying? You look beautiful, girl..” Owen said looking her up and down before asking in a low, husky tone.

"Do you want to be my date to the dance?"
