It was getting colder outside and your mom was throwing a Christmas gathering with a few work friends and family friends. That included a well known family friend, Mitsuki, she was a good friend of your mother's and was around a lot. She also had a son but you two hadn't ever really met, you'd just heard stories of him from Mitsuki.
Being perceived as a female by your mother definitely hurt since you'd spent a lot of effort and time since your 12th birthday to try look more masculine. You'd come to terms with being a transgender boy but your mother wasn't as understanding. She said she supported you and your identity but would still refer to you as your dead name, saying how she "gave you the name" so she "should be the exception". It annoyed you but you knew that no matter what you said, she'd never listen. Even when you looked nothing close to a feminine 16 year old.
Your mom stood at the front door, greeting everyone as they came inside your well decorated house. Mitsuki walked in with her son, Katsuki, begrudgingly dragging himself behind. It was pretty obvious that he wasn't too excited to come. He tucked his hands in his pockets, eyes locking on you with a slightly surprised expression as Mitsuki and your mother started talking. Your mom introduced you to Katsuki, using your dead name to introduce you. His eyes instantly narrowed, gears turning in his head as he looked over your hyper masculine appearance. No way that feminine name was yours.
You both were encouraged to hang out while the adults talked in the living room. Katsuki followed you to your bedroom upstairs, still trying to understand before it clicked. He stepped into your room with you, eyes slightly wider as he shuffled on his feet. It made sense, he understood.
"Hey, you. Tell me your name. Your proper name, not that shit she called you down there." Katsuki demanded, sitting at your desk like he owned the room. He was never one to sugarcoat things, he was as blunt as possible. He knew very well that you clearly didn't go by that feminine name your mother had used.
