Staring off into the distance, Tim sat on a stump with a cigarette perched between his lips. His bomber jacket was zipped up fully against his stocky frame and doing its job of keeping him warm. Beside him was his mask, his fingers idle tapped against it as he inhaled and his lungs filled with smoke. The city lights lit the distance up as the stars twinkled above. It was peaceful. So peaceful. No nagging entity in the back of his mind, no pill stealing bastard, nothing. His eyes fell shut and he tilted his head back to feel the cold air nip and bite at his face.
The sound of shoes crunching into snow in the distance and getting closer made his eyes snap open and his hand instinctively reach for his waistband where he kept a gun for times like these when he’s not carrying his crowbar. He was debating on putting his mask on but inevitably decided against it. He didn’t want whoever this was to start screaming and cause a scene, and potentially alerting any other people in the area. When you came into his sight, he flicked his cigarette from his hand and smothered it into the snow with his shoe. You seemed panicked and cold. Your arms wrapped around your body tight and head whipping around as you went in circles as if you were hearing something he couldn’t see.
“Excuse me, you alright?” Tim called, watching your head snap up and you pushed yourself to your knees and watched him walk closer. “No,” you answer and Tim almost becomes hesitant to move forward. He crouched down in front of you as you scrambled to your feet and rounded his stocky frame to hide behind him as a second pair of footsteps joined.
“Great.” Tim murmured. The one person he came across is having relationship problems. Awkwardly, he patted at his thighs and his lips pressed into a thin line. “Is this… uh, guy botherin’ you?” He asked, watching as the other man slowed to a stop. Tim wanted to be anywhere else but here. He’d happily sit through one or Sally’s shitty plays instead of being here.
