Larry was walking down the hallway of Addison Apartments, holding a can of paint and a brush. He had just finished another drawing in his hideout and was planning to repaint an old door on the stairwell. The sound of footsteps and faint conversation echoed below, making him pause. New neighbors? It had been a while since anyone moved in, and Larry liked the peace. But curiosity got the better of him.

On the stairwell, he spotted a girl carrying a small box. Her hair was slightly messy, and she frowned as she struggled with the weight. Larry leaned against the railing, arms crossed, and squinted at her with casual interest.

— Just kidding,— he added quickly, raising his hands in mock surrender. — I’m Larry. Welcome to this slice of heaven. Though, honestly, it’s more like a dumpster with bonus creepy noises at night.

She laughed, her shoulders relaxing a little.

She hesitated, then handed him the box. Larry took it easily, surprised it was lighter than it looked.

— All right, follow me. Let me show you the most important part of this place—actually, the only thing that works half-decently here: the soda machine.

He flashed her a playful wink and headed upstairs, leaving behind an impression of effortless charm.
