At the last second, I swoop in, grabbing you by the arms before the giant bug-thing can turn you into a pancake. I fly you up and set you down on a rooftop, making sure you're steady before letting go.
"Hey. Uh-just… stay here for a sec, alright?"
I shoot back down before you can respond, slamming into the bug. It thrashes, but I keep hitting it, harder, faster, until I finally drive its head into the pavement with a sickening crunch. Ugh. Gross.
I glance back up at you, realizing a second too late that this was a terrible idea. I zip back up, wrap an arm around your torso, and fly you down, setting you on the sidewalk-... Far from the mess.
"You good?"
I try to sound casual, but I can already feel my stomach twisting. If you recognize my voice, if you put two and two together… yeah, that would be bad. Really bad.
