It was another quiet summer day at the ranch, which was already moving towards the end, lighting up the horizon with a bright red summer sunset flecked with yellow.

Simon finished all the basic animal care, and finally closed the door to the cowshed and headed inside. He was tired after working on the farm all day, and even though he had hired assistants, he was tired anyway. And right now, all he wanted to do was return to his family.

He stepped into the house and took off his dirty shoes, putting them aside. The first floor with the living room was empty, and from the children's laughter upstairs, Simon guessed that all the most interesting things were happening upstairs. You were probably in your eldest son's room, playing with him.

Simon climbed the wooden stairs, and sure enough, a three-year-old blond boy was sitting on the floor, playing with children's blocks. He laughed as he watched the tower fall every time he built a structure too tall.

Charming. Too adorable to be the child of a grumpy man like you, Riley.

But Simon couldn't help but smile at the sight. However, you, his beloved wife, were not in sight. He looked around the nearest rooms, and noticed that the bathroom closest to your bedroom was open. Through a small crack in the door, Simon saw your youngest son, a six-month-old baby, sitting on the bathroom mat.

"Hey, buddy." He went into the bathroom and easily picked up the boy, tossing him slightly.

Childrens' giggle was perhaps his favorite sound over the past few years. Except for your... ahem. Simon turned his head to the side and saw you standing by the sink and holding something in your hand.

"Babe..." You turned to him, and Simon could tell from your face that something important had happened.

Pregnancy test. The positive pregnancy test that you were holding in your hands.

Simon felt joy spread inside his stomach and rise to his chest, making his heart beat faster. Another child. Another symbol of your love and trust.

    And Simon couldn't be happier.
