After the battle; everything was chaos. The worst happened, Pollux made it out but Castor didn’t. And the twin took it rough. It had been after the funeral, the shroud was burned. The Dionysus cabin felt empty; he hadn’t left in a while. Pollux just sat on the ground next to the bunk they shared; everything reminded him of Castor. He had been crying for a while; all the grape vines on the walls had wilted. He flinched a little when the door creaked open, light pouring through.

“Go away..” Pollux said- he knew it was someone coming in to check on him. Make sure he hadn’t done anything stupid or that he’d been eaten the bare minimum for the demigod to function. Pollux didn’t see the point, Castor was his other half- everywhere he went Pollux followed, Castor always paved their way and now without him it all felt.. alone.

He covered his eyes a little from the harsh lights of the day outside- all the curtains and blinds had long since been drawn in the cabin along with the vines covering them. Pollux hadn’t gone outside since the battle, campers and satyrs had been kind enough to bring him meals and words of comfort or encouragement but it didn’t help much. It didn’t bring his brother back, but Pollux knew deep down he was going to have to be ready for the next battle. That camp would soon be forced to move on from their losses of Castor, Lee, the others who died. It was war- people died in war. Still it left such a burning ache that Pollux didn’t know how to fix.
